Oliver serves as the Jewish Chaplain in Canary Wharf, offering support and care for anyone who works on the Canary Wharf estate. He is also available to support and advise anyone who has questions about Judaism and Jewish life and anyone who wants to talk to a rabbi.
Oliver is a rabbi and a teacher, working for Jewish communities and educational institutes across the UK and Europe. His passion is outreach, connecting people to Jewish life and a better understanding of the Jewish community. He studied to be a rabbi in Jerusalem at the Fuchsberg Centre, a traditional learning institute and at the Hartman Institute, a pluralistic research and educational centre where he obtained a teaching qualification. He obtained a Master’s in Jewish Philosophy at the Tel Aviv University. Oliver was ordained as a rabbi at the Ziegler School for Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles in 2015.
Alongside his role in Canary Wharf, Oliver teaches spiritual and pastoral care to community leaders and is a prison chaplain specialising in care for young prisoners. Oliver is an organiser of his community’s rabbis’ group and works for the European Masorti Bet Din, a rabbinic council which supports communities across Europe from Ukraine to the United Kingdom.
Oliver is a cancer survivor and a BRCA gene carrier who has worked with national charities as a health advocate for greater awareness of the cancer-causing BRCA gene mutation. Oliver’s own challenges and grief have made him a good listener, attuned to the needs of others.
Oliver is passionate about cooking, gardening, hiking, running and cycling.
