Deciding to get married can be both exciting and scary at the same time.
It is exciting to have you have found your soulmate, but it can also be scary as you embark on a new adventure with lots of unknowns – even if you have lived together before deciding to get married.
Traditionally when people get married in church, the couple will usually be offered some marriage preparation to help them as they embark on this new phase of their life together. However, as more and more of us choose to have civil ceremonies at beautiful venues, hotels, and stately homes, very rarely will we be offered the opportunity to have some marriage preparation.
The Chaplaincy offers the opportunity for couples working in Canary Wharf to have some conversations around marriage preparation, independently of being involved in the actual wedding day itself.
How it works:
We normally meet with a couple for an initial chat – perhaps over a coffee – and discuss how to make the sessions bespoke for the couple. We decide where and when we will meet over the coming several weeks.
Topics covered usually include:
- Marriage expectations and what makes a marriage work
- Exploring your goals and dreams together
- Finding ways to resolve conflict
- Making financial decisions
- Sex and children
